Side effects of Acyclovir –
Zovirax |
The side effects of Acyclovir totally depend on the amount of dose the patient is taking
and how effectively the infection is treated. Most importantly the following side effect does not occur in every patient but
in any case patient must contact the doctor as soon as possible. It is possible that patient might feel thirsty (but less
amount of urine), weak and confused after using Zovirax. Increase in redness may occur with other skin problems like, peeling
or loosening of skin.
In rare cases patient might tremble or experience a seizure. Diarrhea, light headedness, headache,
nausea and no appetite may occur in many patients which can be dangerous. Adverse reaction of Acyclovir which have been
reported to FDA association occur with the over dosage; which include anxiety, coma, serious seizures and extreme weakness,
causing a rise in the readings of BUN and serum creatinine and later kidney failure. Zovirax helps in reducing symptoms
like pain, itching and relief sores but can pass the infection to others people, so one should avoid sexual intercourse
in herpes and interaction with other people in chicken pox.
If patient is using Acyclovir for a shot term period then
all of the above mentioned side effects may take place. Long term therapy may cause continuous headaches and dizziness.
Sore throat, cramps, and hair loss are very rare while diarrhea, has found a lot common. Non physical reaction of Zovirax
is aggressiveness and insomnia. Menstrual abnormalities are found in women.
